Forget the recession!  This is the time to get away from it all and join your MP family for a fun filled time in sunny South, Florida!  Your hosts, Rick and Lori Wistner, along with Ted and Mary Kanamine, Gerald and Seemal Kelly are putting together a reunion to remember.

Reserve Your Room Now.  The Reunion Committee has negotiated a contract with the Marriott Harbor Beach Hotel Resort and Spa located on beautiful  Ft. Lauderdale Beach and minutes from downtown restaurants and shops.  This beautiful facility has undergone extensive renovations to make it a true 4 star hotel with all of the amenities.   You may reserve your room by following this link:

http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/fllsb?groupCode=rmprmpa&app=resvlink&fromDate=9/23/09&toDate=9/27/09
The rate is $129.00 nightly with rates effective from 9/20/09 to 9/30/09.  The regular rate is $256.00 nightly, so we have received an exceptional offer for this 4 Star Marriott.  Those who registered prior to July 15 were eligible for a couple’s spa package valued at $250.00. The winners were COL Greg and Brenda Lowe. The registration form will be included in the Spring Digest and also available on-line at bottom of this pageRick has announced that the parking fees were negotiated to $7.00 daily from the normal rate of $22.00.

We are providing free time for attendees to do their own thing and enjoy the sights and sounds of South Florida.  An agenda may be seen by clicking here.

We have been given our own area for reunion registration and expect some surprises.  We want even this normally mundane task to be enjoyable and fun.

The Reception is planned for the newly renovated terrace overlooking the beach and Atlantic Ocean.  You will sip exotic and not so exotic drinks and partake of some of the food South Florida is famous for!  Mingle and catch up with friends and make new ones.  Take a stroll on the beach or sit next to the pool and plan your next activity…

The golf tournament is planned for the Jacaranda Golf Club on Friday morning.  There are 2 courses at Jacaranda and with a recent $10,000,000.00 renovation; it is one of the premier courses in South Florida ( www.golfjacaranda.com ).   Don’t play golf?  Then, how about a drift fishing tournament or a trip to Sawgrass Mills Mall, one of the largest outlet malls in the U.S.?  Other planned activities we are working on include a dinner cruise up the New River aboard the Jungle Queen ( www.junglequeen.com ).   The river cruise, large enough to accommodate 550 persons, ends with an all you can eat barbeque and shrimp dinner and entertainment.  Are you a card shark or lucky at slots?  How about a trip to the     Hard Rock Hotel and Casino with numerous restaurants, entertainment, Black Jack, Texas Hold’em, and other card games along with Vegas style slots ( www.seminolehardrockhollywood.com ).  We are also looking at a planned trip to Everglades National Park with an airboat ride.  Not to worry…You will have free time to do your own thing.  Check out www.sunny.org for more activities.

The Memorial Breakfast will be held on Saturday morning with all the dignity and remembrance deserving of those who have sacrificed so much for our Country.  We will have a buffet breakfast, guest Chaplain, Posting of Colors, Reading of Names, and Taps.  You will not want to miss this event!

Lastly, the Gala Dinner Saturday night will be just that…Gala!  Do not expect a military briefing, fund raising, or State of the Nation address!  Do expect entertainment and dinner choices.  Do expect a time to socialize, dance, and have fun!

Reunion Sponsors Needed.  As with everything else, the cost of hosting a reunion is going up!  The attainment of tax exemption status will reduce the cost of the reunion by over $6,000.00; however, that will not happen before our reunion next year in Ft. Lauderdale. If you know an individual or group that might be willing to donate to the cost of the reunion, please contact Rick Wistner at rwistner@broward.org   He will either send you a sample letter requiring only the address and your signature or provide him the name and address and he will mail out.  No donation is too small or too great!  Use your imagination!

Rick said, "I was at my doctor’s office the other day and mentioned our reunion.  This is a guy that has made way too much money off of me and my insurance!  I explained what our reunion is and what it means.  He said send the letter and he will donate!"

Every dollar helps!
